Rejoicing Art Journaling

First, LOL, I have decided that my concrete floor in my new studio only needs to be sealed! I think I will be too rough on it with painting, art journaling, etc! I was spray painting some news paper to create my own paper and sprayed a little on the concrete...I loved the look!! However, for this page, I didn't use spray paint...as much as I thought about it =)  I used several layers of paint and then found a wall stencil to create the background design. I stenciled it using water based ink and then added the die cuts around the clipping from a desk calendar that I wanted to create a page around. When I finished the page, I glimmer misted the whole project and, once again, just as it did on another page I created during this art session, the water based ink I used on the stencil background, ran! I loved it! It gave a unique background making the die cuts totally pop!!

The theme of this art journaling page is "Rejoicing..."

Needling Inspiration Art Journaling Page

I love to tell a story when I art journal, scrapbook or whatever medium I am working with. It may not be evident to the person looking at it but underneath the work at hand there is a story regardless if there is one seen on top. For this particular page, the story runs from left to right and right to left plus there is a hidden element that you have to look for. The quote at the bottom was the inspiration: Make a statement. You can. Inspiring.

The hidden element that weaves all the pieces of my work together within my soul and being is with a needle and thread wither it is imaginary or for real, it is woven with creativity and inspiration with hands and imagery that my spirit instills within my being planted with seeds that God lays within my path of artistic journey.

The clipping of the person standing firm on the ladder, makes a statement, does he/she not? Plus the camera stills the moment in time to remind me to remain firm in my belief that creativity is what I make it regardless wither anyone understands or gets it. Art is what the artist expresses and makes it, telling their story while learning and sharing techniques as they travel the journey of art.

The one technique that loved about the art journaling I did during this session was when I stamped with the water based inks and then glimmer misted the whole project when I finished, the ink ran and even smeared. The same effect happens when tapped or sprayed with water...I love love love that technique and have used it often on my art journaling pages...Also, this technique brought out the bottom layer of black paint, I wasn't expecting that to happen...a very nice sweet surprise...just another wonderful element to my story! When we create with various mediums, we often come back to what we were taught in the beginning, where we are comfortable, but when we do, we bring newness to that art medium because of all we have learned and all we have witnessed thus needling inspiration in all our art and weaving it into our journey of life.

Remember...

Two things to to remember throughout the year, first, being happy is a choice and, second, we have a story to tell. Those are the reasons that I love to do art for it does both through my eyes. It makes me happy and at peace. It calms my spirit. With all that life has brought me over the years, I find that when I am walking down a path I am not joyful about, I am carrying some type of art with me. Once during a medical crisis that we were walking through over a course of a summer, I made seventy-three dishcloths! Nobody needs seventy-three dishcloths in their lifetime!! Do you hear me? But it was mindless, easy and I had something to occupy my hands while we waiting, traveled and sitting.

Inside this journal, there are envelopes and tags. So I created small scrapbook/art journaling pages on them and here are two of them. The bottom piece of art was created by DeDe as a back for an ATC but I thought it would look great here with the heart I had embossed and wanted to keep...I added the stickers and whola...a cute reminder that we do indeed have a story to tell... All of my art regardless of the medium tells a story for me, it may not be written, but the story is there none-the-less. What story do you need to share? What story do you need to get off your heart that is weighing heavy on your shoulders? What joy do you need to put on paper or photo do you need to share? I ask again, what story do you have to share?

The beginnings of a positive thoughts faith 6x6 album...

This is a 6x6 scrapbook album I received in a
goodie bag at a retreat...

I used a 12x12 faith theme paper from Hobby Lobby...

I took the page protector section out of the book
so that I could recover the whole chipboard album...

First, I covered the spin...

...wrapping it around to the inside...

Ok, I used a bit much folding it over the edges lol...

I loved the darker paper for the inside...

Then I adhered the page protector sectional back
into place using my ATG gun...

The book is completely covered...

...ready for some pages...

I chose the same base paper for the whole book,
cutting them all at 6x6...

...then I roughed up the edges using my scissors...
the scripture on this paper is Psalm 23...

I purchase this bracelet at a yard sale and plan to
take it a part and make a charm for this album...I will
punch a hole into the top of the spin and let the charm
hang down...the key and the pearls just seemed fitting
for this album...when I am finished I will post more photos...

Love, Blessings and tons of {{{Hugs}}},
