Celebrating Siblings Scrapbook Layout Pages

"celebrating siblings" scrapbook layout pages

I am so glad that someone thought to have this photo taken. To complement that photo, I was pleased to find so many photos of the siblings together that were taken throughout the years at various events. I have always loved my dad's sister's and affectionately called them "The Sister's"... Many of them have passed on but I can't be sad about that...I realize that they are up in Heaven talking, sharing stories and memories and enjoying their reunion. I can't be sad about them seeing their momma again whom has been away from them for a very long time...I am just a happy person I suppose and death holds no sting and no sadness for me. I find peace in knowing they are happy being together as they were many years ago...besides, they are Morrison/Hutchesons, they are too stubborn to not be happy. =) (just teasing...)

Saturday Afternoons in the 50s Scrapbook Layout Pages

"saturday afternoons in the 50s" scrapbook layout pages

My mother and dad have entertained us with stories about some of the fun times they had with their friends and family on the weekends at community singings when they lived in the area of "down home" in Phil Campbell Alabama (as they called the area) or in the parks of Chicago Illinois. I love these photos especially the clothes, today we look at them as vintage but the belts and the tiny waists, we would kill for them today...

When I would visit either grandparent, I remember them sitting on the front porch any evening or esp Sunday afternoon watching the world pass by. My grandmother Newell would sit on the porch swing and I was just drawn to her. I think we were kindred spirits in creativity and faith. She would swing very slowly and she taught me to think things through slowly, its a shame she didn't give me her quiet gentle spirit =). If we were lucky, granddaddy would get his banjo and play the afternoon away. At my Papaw Hutty's I loved just looking out at the field across from his house. It was calming and relaxing. It was extra special because he had a small grocer next door and was the first to carry Mr. Pibb, even before Decatur where we lived Monday-Thursday (we had a farm/house just around the corner from my Hutcheson relatives) and the most awesome peppermint sticks that melted in your mouth...but this was prior to me being allergic to peanuts, so having them in my Mr. Pibb totally rocked. =)

I loved being in the Franklin County area away from the city, even though Decatur wasn't a large scale city, but I liked being in the country and I think that is why I like where we live today. I can look out in any direction and breath nature/woods.

Let's Celebrate! Let's Celebrate! Scrapbook Layout Pages

"let's celebrate! let's celebrate!" Scrapbook layout pages

by Rita Hutcheson-Cobbs

Some of the recipes that are in my mother's collection are several pages long. Fortunately Close to My Heart has extension pages that attach super easily to the sides of the existing pages and fold inside so that you have not only do you have the inside extra space, you have the opposite side too...PLUS...they come in various sizes and aren't expensive. I am going to use these in various ways...for extra large recipes, extra photos for layouts, journaling, and where I want to add stories that may be longer than space on my pages...How fun this is going to be...I am having so much fun with these pages...Just think, I have just begun because I have my mother's side of the family, the Newell's, completely organized and ready to put on pages too and, girly quzies and boyzies wozies, do I have enough recipes to makes plenty of pages too...loving it...

Flour it Up Scrapbook Layout Pages

" flour it up" scrapbook layout pages

The paper and embellishments for these pages remind me of the 50s. I am pretty sure my mother had some canisters like these but with gold lids. She probably still has them somewhere. =) For years, I said she still had my first bra, which by the way had a bubble bee in the center and NOT a flower, I still remember the argument at Sears department store when we were shopping and I was trying them on! Btw, do you remember the candy counter in the center row where the girls section was where you could purchase candy by the pound? Oh, you had to get some before leaving and then nearby there was a huge Winnie the Pooh Bear, my dad tried to buy that for me once but they wouldn't sell it to him. I was a little sad about that but I think I settled for a new softball. =) I remember my 3 speed Free Spirit purple bike we got there too...I so loved the bike too...rode it until it feel apart...wow...one memory leads to another...I can even smell the Tide laundry soap throughout the house the day mother washed clothes...the little house on 1102 6th Ave SW always had the most amazing cleaning smell throughout...sweet memories so I think I will stop there LOL...
